My Famicase Tease: wall of custom Famicom carts on display at Japanese video game culture shop Meteor.
My Famicase Exhibition, the annual show featuring cartridge designs for game concepts created by artists around the world, opened in Tokyo today. The pieces aren’t available to admire online yet, but folks who have visited the gallery are posting photos from the exhibit.
If you look closely at the shot above, you can sort of see a tiny design for a cartridge sent in by a very special blog. Here’s the list of this year’s contributors, by the way.

Yesterday, I was tasked by Fangamer to turn videogame characters into hipsters for a free shipping event they’re holding (hence, the Shipster Sale). It was tough, but I think I did okay, and it was super fun to boot! You can see the newsletter (along with some of the awesome stuff those dudes have for sale) here!
Up top is Ness and Mario, and along the bottom are Mega Man, Snake, Link, Samus and Crono.
this is the best. thing.
Botan Run Cycle (200%)
So…in addition to my remake project for Mother (Earthbound Zero), I’ve also been working on a second, independent video game project (SUPER Legend of Botan to any of you who have taken a look at some of my other postings). Currently, the project doesn’t boast any playable material, but much of the story has been hammered down and I’m just now beginning to transition over to developing some graphics of characters and sets for a possible demo. The story is a science-fantasy following a group of 13 to 14 year-olds living in a futuristic civilization on a distant moon who travel their world to save it from being destroyed by a mysterious god-like entity, who appears to be telepathically communicating with the lead protagonist over the course of the adventure.
The story draws inspiration largely from 2001: A Space Odyssey, as well as partially from the Mother series and early Final Fantasy titles. The game’s design is planned to be an experimental mixture of 2D platforming and turn-based RPG strategy. Ideally I would love to release it for the iPhone OS, but I am not ruling out the possibility of developing it for PC/Mac.
The character featured above is the lead-protagonist, named Botan. I plan to release a followup post that will provide bios and conceptual illustrations of the main characters sometime within the next week or so. In the meantime, you can find some more dirt on the game here, here, and here.
Also, any programmers or artists who and are interested in getting involved with the project’s development, or any video-gamers who would like to play a game like this should feel free to contact me. The biggest enemy against bringing this project to realization has been the lack of manpower required to tackle its tremendous workload, so if you like what you see, let it be known.

Wow… I actually never seen these before. Maybe I should start looking that those concept art reals on Psychonauts.
Raz looks very odd on the first picture. He looked kind of like Dogen, Dart, and… Mikhail.
The next picture is like his present day design, but thank god he’s got a full head of hair in the final design.
Images do not belong to me in any way, shape, or form~
hnnnnng love these
these are so amazingly fun
